My Favourite Food

None other than Hyderabadi Biryani.
Biryani is one of the most popular dishes in Hyderabad. Biryani is a set of rice-based foods made with spices, basmati rice and meat/chicken. The Nizam's kitchen boasted of 49 kinds of biryanies, which included biryani made from fish, quail, shrimp, deer and hare.

Popular Telugu Dishes

Gutti Vankaya Koora (Eggplant Fry) is one of the famous vegetable andhra dishes. This is one of the traditional recipe prepared with stuffed baby brinjals cooked in authentic Andhra style.

Andhra is famous for rice based vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

For vegetable curries, a wide variety of vegetables are used, which also includes Aaku kooralu (green leafy vegetables), Pappu (Dal / Lentils) and vegetables like Vonkaya (brijal), Bendakaya (okra), Bitter gourd (kakarakaya), Beans, Tamato Rasam, Sambar, Pulihora, Ulava Chaaru, Pacchi Pulusu, Mango pickle (Aavakaaya), Gongoora pachchadi and Korivi karam.

Non-vegetarian curries include Kodi-koora (Chicken curry), Yata-mamsam (Goat mutton curry), Chepa Pulusu(Fish and Tamarind), Chepa-koora (Fish curry), Royya-koora (Prawn curry), Peethala-koora (Crab curry) and Bommidaila Pulusu.

The curries are prepared mainly two type koora (with wet gravy) and vepudu (dry fry).

Some common Telugu sweets and snaks are: Pootha Rekulu, Kova, Kajalu, Paramannam, Ariselu, Boorelu, Gaarelu, Bobbatlu / Bhakshaalu, Jentikalu, Vadiyalu, Attu, Dosa.
